  A Tibet trip is a once in a lifetime event for most travelers. Lhasa , the forbidden city is the heartland soul of Tibet for centuries and is still a city of wonders. The majestic dominating Potola palace in the Lhasa skyline was the residence of the Dalai Lamas. Jokhang, the central cathedral is the spiritual heart of Lhasa and is its most sacred temple in Tibet . Surrounding the Jokhang Temple is the bustling & fascinating Barkhor market around which the devotional pilgrims circumambulate. Visits to Sera and Drepung Monastery; Tibet 's great monastic universities and Norbulinka, the Summer Palace of the Dalai Lama are the other attractions on the program. We begin our tour by exploring Yarlung Tsangpo Valley , the cradle of Tibetan civilization. It is here as per legend the ogress & the monkey mated & the Tibetan race began. The whole region is culturally & historically very rich & boast of early historical monuments such as the Samye

Monastery, the first monastic institution built in early 7th century; Yumbulakhang, the first palace built for a Tibetan king; Samye Chimpu, a cave complex & once a retreat for Guru Rinpoche. We continue to Lhasa visiting Mindroling Monastery en route

  Day 01 Depart from Katmandu for Neyalam (3600m)-153 km.
Day 02: Neylam-Lhatse (4050m)-285 kms.
Day 03: Lhatse-Xigatse (3900m)-90 kms.
Day 04: Xigatse-Gyantse (3950m)-90kms.
Day 05: Gyantse-Lhasa (3650m)-261 kms.
Day 06: Sightseeing In Lhasa .
Day 07: Sight seeing in In Lhasa .
Day 08: Lhasa-Kathmandu.
 
   
 

Detail Itinerary

 
  Day 01: Depart from Katmandu for Neyalam (3600m)-153 km
Departure at 0530 hrs from The infront of Sanjayakosh building in Thamel. Approx. 05 hours drive to Kodari ( China/Nepal boarder ), Half an hour drive to Zhangmu, where after completion of immigration formalities we drive further to Neylam following BhoteKoshi river in a deep valley with some overflowing waterfalls. Overnight in guesthouse.

Day 02: Neylam-Lhatse (4050m)-285 kms
Drive through Neyalam Pass (3800m) with the view of Jugal Himal. A continued drive via Lalungla Pass (5050m) has some of the outstanding view of Mt. Xixapangma (8013m highest in Tibet ) Mt. Makalu (8464m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m) and Mt.Everest (8848m). Overnight in guesthouse.

Day 03: Lhatse-Xigatse (3900m)-90 kms
Depending upon the road condition we visit Shakya Monastery which is 52 kms return journey off the main road Shakya Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Tibet . Drive to Xigatse, the place of the famous Tashilumpo Monastery and the seat of Panchen Lama. Overnight at Hotel Samdrupse or similar standard.

Day 04: Xigatse-Gyantse (3950m)-90kms
After visiting TashiLumpo Monastery in the morning including the Bazaar of Xigatse. Drive to Gyantse, which is 02 hrs. Gyantse is small busting town steeped in history. It lies 264 kms. Southwest of Lhasa on the northern bank of Nyang Chu river. In the 15th century it served as the capital of a small Kingdom. Visit Kumbum Chorten which was built around 1400 AD. It later became the main center for trade with British India . Overnight in Hotel.

Day 05: Gyantse-Lhasa (3650m)-261 kms.
08-hrs drive takes you to Lhasa crossing the Karo La Pass (5010m) and Kambala Pass (4794m). The Karo La climbs between two lofty mountains, Nozing Khang Sa (7223m) and Ralung (6236). While driving you will see the Yamdrok Tso ( Turquoise Lake ) which takes approx. 1 hour to cross around. After passing Kamba La, Lhasa valley is seen to the north. You will also cross the Brahmaputra River. Reaching Lhasa and check into hotel. The accompanied guide will reconfirm your onward airline ticket. Overnight in hotel.

Day 06: 07 In Lhasa
These days you will be engrossed with sightseeing and excursions of the Potala Palace , the Jokhang temple, surrounding Barkhor market, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. Overnight in hotel.

Day 08: Lhasa-Kathmandu
Back to own destination
